Marcel

All preparations are complete.

Tim

Got it. Young master, are you sure you want to come along? You can leave it to us...

Rald

Tim.

Tim

... Understood. Marcel and I will accompany you. If there's any danger, let us handle it. How about you? Ready?

OPCII_2052_II

... I'm afraid these weapons won't have any effect on them. We may not know how many there are, but they're still Architects.

Marcel

What other choice do we have? Under the Administration Bureau's regulations, these are already the highest specification weapons we can produce.

Tim

I guess nobody ever thought that humans would end up fighting Architects...

Rald

... No, perhaps that's precisely why the regulations were put in place...

OPCII_2052_II

It's true there has never been anything like this in recorded history. I'd prefer if we didn't leave any traces behind... Ideally we keep this low-profile and avoid creating panic or anti-Architect sentiment among humans.

Marcel

Then tell us how we can deal with them.

OPCII_2052_II

... I suppose I no longer have any duty to the Administration Bureau. Architects have two weak spots, the first is the core, located in their chest. Destroy that and an Architect is essentially dead. Retrieving their data will become next to impossible. However, the core is the most heavily protected part of an Architect. Like I said, your weapons won't do anything.

Tim

So...?

OPCII_2052_II

So I want to focus on the second weak point. That's the port located on the back of the neck. Can you see it? Underneath my skin.

Rald

Yeah, clear as day... But that won't be easy to attack.

OPCII_2052_II

True. It's a small target, and can only be hit if the enemy has their back to you or lowers their head. As an Enforcer, it shouldn't be a problem for me, but for the rest of you...
[Gunshot]

Tim

Bullseye! It may have been a long time since I left the military, but shooting a gun... is a lot like riding a bike. Marcel and the team train hard every day. Shouldn't be a problem.

OPCII_2052_II

Okay, but remember Architects aren't stationary targets. Once they identify you as a threat...
[Snatches Gun]

Tim

 !?

OPCII_2052_II

Just like that, it'll be over in an instant.

Tim

... Uhhh...
[Gives back the gun]

OPCII_2052_II

We should try to move quietly. We want to avoid detection and direct confrontation. Remember, the goal of the operation is to determine the location of their base. Only if the situation allows, will we attempt to rescue the hostages.

Marcel

That was the young master's original plan... It doesn't look like our weapons will do much damage anyway.

Rald

We've got no other choice... Let's go.

OPCII_2052_II

Are you feeling nervous, Rald? You're staring at me.

Rald

... Oh, sorry. It's kinda hard not to be nervous. If we were up against humans, I'd be more confident, but Architects...

OPCII_2052_II

If I made you feel nervous earlier...

Rald

No, don't worry about it. But you mentioned that the malfunctioning Architects... have developed their own consciousness, right?

OPCII_2052_II

That's right. It's because of this that these super-powered beings have become a threat to mankind.

Rald

... Then I'll just say it. Even though you're on our side, any way you look at it, you're... just like them.

OPCII_2052_II

... I can't deny it. I don't know when it started, but my thought patterns have become more complex. I've started feeling what's known as self-consciousness... You noticed that a while ago, so... why didn't you say anything?

Rald

Yeah... If your theory is correct, then these so-called malfunctioning Architects possess something like human nature. At least, that's what I've been able to sense. And that means I can't look at you... or the other self-aware Architects, like a lifeless machine.

OPCII_2052_II

Hehe... A unique boy, you are. I think this is one of the reasons I have come to like humans.

Rald

Um... You like humans... So why do those other Architects want to hurt us?

OPCII_2052_II

... Right now, I'm not sure. But I'm sure they have their own reasons.

Rald

Really? So... they're no different from us.
[Loading]

OPCII_2052_II

... In fact... My memory indicates that I may have already come into contact with one of the group's key members -- Ilka.

Rald

Huh? What do you mean?

OPCII_2052_II

I'm not really sure how to explain it... After we Architects go through reprocessing, in theory we shouldn't have memories from the previous unit. But these old memories have been swirling around in my head. They may even be memories of the time when humans were not around...

Rald

Before humans...

OPCII_2052_II

It's just speculation... If I encounter Ilka or another member from their group, maybe I'll remember more.

Rald

Okay, got it... Right, so if these Architects are the same as you, then will you... how should I put this? Will you be able to... *cough*... deal with them?

OPCII_2052_II

......! I can't say for certain, but if it comes to that... dialogue takes priority. They may harbor hatred toward the human race, but I see a different way forward. I believe the two can coexist.

Rald

Hehe... we really do think alike. You know, there's all this societal opposition that the Neumann family has created toward itself... I think there must be a way to resolve it... There must be a way to allow Alain and other families living in poverty to have better lives.

OPCII_2052_II

Agreed. Most people would probably think we're too idealistic, right? But... we can't give up, however difficult the road may be.

Rald

...... Hey, No. 2.
[Stretches out hand]

OPCII_2052_II

......
[Shakes hands]

Rald

I'm really glad I got to know you. Once this is all over, we'll figure out a way to get you back into the Administration Bureau. You truly are an excellent Enforcement Agent. Can't wait until we can work together and make this world a better place.

OPCII_2052_II

... Why, thank you!
