Hold notes are basically found in every song (except Alive: The New World) and makes up an essential part of the gameplay as well. These can be quite easy (just simple hold notes), moderate (single hold notes with simple click notes) or brutal (continuous hold notes with alternate click notes).

SOME NOTICEABLE HOLD NOTES GROUPS
Single hold notes These are hold notes that has no pair. These notes are found in almost every song. These are found easy in songs but not always (ex. Freedom Dive).
Double hold notes These are notes held with a pair on its horizon. They might come in a single pair (ex. Old Gold) or continuous pairs (ex. Sanctity).
Triple hold notes These notes only appear in two songs, namely Halcyon and Holy Knight. Players using thumbs will have no choice but to hold or lay down their device (usually just phone) to hold it.
Alternating hold notes These notes act like two double hold notes but exchanging holds left to right or vice versa during holding the alternate notes. These can be easy (ex. Majestic Phoenix) or hard (ex. Codename : Zero).
Double hold notes with uneven length These notes come in the form of double notes, starting at the same point, but ending at different points. An example is Red Eyes. Sometimes they come with click notes as well (ex. Niflheimr). It can be fairly important to know when you should release your finger when the hold note ends, so your finger is free to click the note that comes after it.

Hold notes are generally easier than click notes or drag notes, but when they come in continuously with other click notes or drag notes, these notes can complicate the gameplay. A good example is L2 - Ascension: Act 2 (Liberation).
